Tell the state Senate to pass needed COVID relief for nonpublic schools

Thousands of Catholic school students across the state need your help to stand up for their health and safety. On March 9, Governor Gretchen Whitmer vetoed House Bill 4048, which included $87,000,000 of federal Emergency Assistance to Nonpublic Schools (EANS) funding to address the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. This relief, already approved by Congress, would have provided for necessary expenses such as sanitation, barriers to facilitate social distancing, and ventilation improvements.

Last week, the Michigan House of Representatives restored the EANS funding by passing Senate Bill 29. The measure is now before the Michigan Senate. Working in close collaboration with the Michigan Association of Non-public Schools, the Michigan Catholic Conference is urging you to contact your State Senator and urge passage of SB 29. Lawmakers need to hear from those they represent before SB 29 comes up for a vote. Contact your State Senator today by visiting www.micatholic.org/EANSFunding.

Thank you in advance for supporting the health and safety of Catholic and other nonpublic school students across the state.
