Back to School 2024

Our Catholics schools have started the 2024-25 school year!

For weeks, our Office of Catholic Schools' staff, school leaders, and faculty prepared to welcome our students through professional development, faith formation, and prayer. Check out these events:

  • August 1 - five new school leaders spent the day at Cathedral Square in the first of many cohort meetings. Listen here to Mrs. Shannon Saxton-Murphy, new principal at Holy Trinity Catholic School in Comstock Park, talk about what she believes her job really is and the excitement she feels in her new role.
  • August 6 - all school leaders from our 31 schools congregated downtown to build our alliance and set the theme and tone for the year
  • August 7 - administrative assistants, business managers, and admissions professionals came together to see their part in the universal Church, organize student data, share best practices, and create efficiencies
  • August 18 - Dave Faber participated in the annual Blessing of the Students event that brought together students and school leaders from districts around Grand Rapids, community officials, and clergy. Prayer and encouraging words were shared in hopes that the 2024-25 school year is a time of productivity, peace, and joy.

Then, in the past two week, our schools have opened their doors to students and families, and shared their excitement with the rest of us. Enjoy this video and all the smiling faces within! As we continue to welcome more and more students into our schools, and thus into a personal relationship with the Lord, please keep them all in your prayers.
