Ludington Area Catholic School, which was originally St. Simon School, provides a quality, Catholic education to students in preschool through 8th grade. We have a long, rich history of educating the children of today for the future of tomorrow. Our faith, dovetailed with our strong standards of academic excellence has laid a solid foundation for our students' future.

Our faith is woven throughout everything we do. We take pride in our Catholic heritage and help nurture and grow faith within our students so they can develop their own personal relationship with Jesus. Opportunities are regularly offered to help our students continue to grow in their faith. We encourage and promote Christian service opportunities and we witness many of our current students, and graduates, apply their faith in various ministerial roles in the parish and greater community.

We are proud of the academic performance of our students. Standardized test scores of our students are impressive and students continue to perform well as they progress through high school. A majority of our students stay on the honor roll as they progress through high school and a large percentage become members of the National Honor Society. Their foundation of faith, coupled with strong academics, helps to prepare our students of today for the future of tomorrow.

Mission

Ludington Area Catholic School is dedicated to a Catholic-centered community which allows students to learn about God, develop their unique talents, and strive for academic excellence in a safe environment.

Academics

Ludington Area Catholic School offers a strong academic program for its students which is evident by its scores on national standardized tests. Instruction is provided by competent and caring educators who utilize 1:1 devices, hands-on instruction, and differentiated learning to challenge and advance student learning. Students are able to advance in subject areas, such as math, in order to help them meet their full potential. The students of Ludington Area Catholic School have not only performed well on standardized tests, but have earned many awards and top placements in the community spelling bee, MathCounts, You Be the Chemist, and other academic competitions. Annually, our graduates perform well as they continue in high school. This is evident by the number of our graduates who stay on the honor roll and become members of the National Honor Society.

Faith

Ludington Area Catholic School provides its students a solid foundation in our Catholic faith. LAC continually strives to enhance and deepen the faith of each student through its religion curriculum, weekly Masses, daily prayers, and Christian service opportunities. The faith life of students is also nurtured through time spent in prayer in the Adoration Chapel, special prayer services during Advent, and Station of the Cross during Lent. Religious field trips, learning about the saints, retreats, sacramental preparation and opportunities to serve in ministerial roles at Mass also provide an opportunity for a deepening of faith. The rosary is said in class, in the memorial rosary garden outside, and schoolwide as a living rosary.

Extracurriculars

Ludington Area Catholic School offers a wide variety of extracurricular activities to help the student grow physically and socially in addition to academically and spiritually. Students can participate in the Fit Club, Coding Club, MathCounts, You Be the Chemist, and Girls on the Run. Elementary sports are organized through the City of Ludington and students can participate in basketball, t-ball, baseball, softball, and soccer. Football and ice hockey are also available through county programs. Middle school students can participate in sports and varied after school activities through a cooperative agreement with the local Christian school.
