It is with great pride that we introduce you to St. Joseph Catholic School in Pewamo. Our school, with 100 years of service to the parish and community, is located within the Pewamo-Westphalia school district which houses a community high school, an elementary school, and two Catholic schools.
St. Joseph Catholic School is an accomplished institution, rich in its Catholic heritage and well-defined in its academic programs. The Catechism of the Catholic Church defines the importance of Catholic education and the responsibilities that go along with it: "In a very special way, parents share in the office of sanctifying by leading a life in the Christian spirit and by seeing to the Christian education of their children." We are committed to providing a quality, Christ-centered education for the children of St. Joseph Catholic School.
Mission
St. Joseph School, staff, parents, and parish family are committed to teaching quality, Christ-centered Catholic beliefs and values. Our uniqueness is displayed in our staff dedication, parental involvement, and community pride which, make St. Joseph a leader in academic excellence, social integration and appreciation of each individual as a child of God.
Academics
We are proud of our students' accomplishments! Our alumni have become some of the top graduates at Pewamo-Westphalia High School (valedictorian, top ten, etc.). We are also pleased with the favorable results from our 5th and 8th grader ACRE testing, and continued growth with the NWEA MAP results.
Faith
Much of what we do at St. Joseph School, as a team, is rooted in our philosophy for education and our mission statement. We claim a uniqueness in our staff dedication and parental involvement with an emphasis in our community pride. Our Catholic identity is evident through daily prayer, displays, and an infusion of our faith into the classroom.
Extracurriculars
To further enrich the lives of our students, we offer an athletic program which allows five sports for 3rd-8th graders. Our students spend a great deal of time exploring their musical talents with piano and choral activities (singing at school and weekend Mass, Christmas, Easter and first Communion). In addition, teachers offer tutoring after school as needed and reading groups are formed during the summer months.
