Thank you for your interest in enrolling your child at St. Mary School. The daily routine and instruction in our school reflects the commitment of our teachers, support staff, and administration to meet the needs of every child in order to achieve the optimum learning environment critical for social and cognitive development. Our students show growth in the areas of socialization, exploration and problem solving with guidance from a loving and nurturing staff.
Each day starts with an all-school prayer service. We have weekly Mass, where students have an opportunity to take an active part in the liturgy. In addition, students participate in monthly all-school Sunday Mass. Throughout the school year, students take part in a variety of community service activities.
All staff members are committed to providing a Christ-centered learning environment. Our smaller class sizes allow for more individualized instruction opportunities and increased expectations of our students. We have a rigorous academic program which includes an opportunity for robotics in fourth through eighth grade, and future expansion to our lower grades as well. Our curriculum encourages critical thinking and problem solving, positive socialization skills, and the development of a positive self-image at a level that is developmentally appropriate for all students.
We recognize that active play is very important to muscle and brain development. Physical education and music are offered twice a week for our students. Kindergarten through fourth grade have outdoor recess three times a day. Fifth through eighth grade have recess at lunch. Physical education activities and outdoor play allow for the development of the whole child. In addition, St. Mary School offers weekly art, technology and Spanish classes.
We look forward to you and your family becoming part of the St. Mary Catholic School Community.
Mission
Flowing from the mission of the St. Mary-St. Paul Parish, St. Mary School students will learn to know, love, and serve God. Students will live their Catholic faith through academic pursuits, spiritual development, and service to the community.
Academics
St. Mary School provides a high-quality academic environment for our students. We have small class sizes as well as technology throughout the school, including a computer lab with newer computers, Smart boards in all classrooms and iPads for all students to use. Students also have the opportunity to participate in our robotics programs, beginning in first grade with FIRST Lego League Jr. and continuing through seventh and eighth grade, when they build a Tetrix robot to meet specific challenge requirements. We offer music classes weekly and Spanish is taught to students in 5th - 8th grade.
Faith
Deepening our students’ faith is very important to us at St. Mary School. We encourage and promote this on a daily, weekly and monthly basis through a variety of activities within the school. Each morning, our students participate in a prayer service. Every Thursday, teachers take their students to church for adoration. The students also lead Mass once a month during our all-school Mass, the rosary, Stations of the Cross, and adoration. In addition, St. Mary students gather together once a month for P.A.L.S. (Peaceful And Loving Students) groups to participate in a number of activities that allow our students to give back within the community.
Extracurriculars
We have many extracurricular activities. We offer chess club, boys basketball, girls basketball and volleyball, cross country, track and field, soccer, and Girls on the Run. We also have a science, technology, religion, engineering, art and math (STREAM) program that begins in first grade.
