Welcome to St. Patrick School,
I would like to welcome you to our family! We are proud to share this step of your child’s journey in the wonderful world of learning with you.
St. Patrick has been a part of the Portland community for more than 100 years. We have always and continue to work hard to provide each child with the love and guidance needed to help them grow socially, spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, and physically. We hope that you will consider our school an extension of your home. Our experienced staff will nurture your child in a safe environment allowing them to become well-rounded individuals.
It is our goal to form a partnership with you to provide your child the best education possible. The faculty and staff at St. Patrick School invite you to be as active as you can by visiting your child’s classroom, joining the parent teacher organization (PTO) and attending school activities on a regular basis so your child knows you are an active participant in their learning.

Academics
Students at St. Patrick School are successful academically. At least 50% of each high school graduating class qualifies for the National Honor Society with a grade point average higher than 3.7. And 60% of students graduate with honors. During a student’s senior year, they can take a big first step towards their future by attending Ionia County Career Center, or enrolling in dual enrollment college courses. A high rate of our alumni graduate with four-year degrees in four years or less because of the college credits they earn while in high school.
Our elementary and middle schools have a full range of specials classes including physical education, music, art, library and technology.
Our high school has a full range of traditional and AP classes along with a mix of elective courses to fit every student’s needs.
Faith
Our Catholic identity is essential to all that St. Patrick School is. Students in grades K - 12 attend weekly Mass where they serve as lectors, extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, cantors and altar servers. Students in grades 3 - 12 plan and lead the weekly Mass on a rotating basis. In addition, each class in grades 6 - 12 have a retreat day every year. Students are given a chance to grow spiritually and take on a leadership role through our high school spiritual student council (STIC team). The team plans many of the spiritual events for the school including our Advent wreath lighting ceremonies, Stations of the Cross and lead the 6th and 7th grade retreats.
Extracurriculars
We offer a full line of athletic extracurricular activities for students in grades 5 - 12 including cross country (9 - 12), football (5 - 12), volleyball (5 - 12), boys and girls basketball (5 - 12), boys and girls bowling (9 - 12), baseball and softball (9 - 12), boys golf (9 - 12), track (6 - 12), and wrestling (middle school club sport).
