All A's Walk raises more than $119,000 for tuition scholarships

All A's fundraiser walk

Students from both Catholic Central and West Catholic high schools in Grand Rapids raised a total of more than $119,000 for tuition scholarships through the All A's Walk on Wednesday, October 4.

More than 1,000 students walked from their respective campuses to John Ball Park for the event. When they arrived, they were greeted by both schools' marching bands.

Bishop David Walkowiak joined students at the park, offering remarks and leading everyone in prayer.

This year's was the 26th annual All A's Walk, a fall tradition through which the Catholic Central and West Catholic communities support scholarships that help hundreds of students each year, in addition to helping limit overall tuition costs for all students.

West Catholic chaplain Rev. Dan Schumaker agreed to allow students to buzz his hair as an incentive to hit their fundraising goal. The students met that goal, and Father Dan followed through on October 13, 2017, at a pep rally ahead of the football game against Catholic Central. See photos in the gallery at this link.
