Catholic school families with students entering kindergarten, 6th grade, or 9th grade next year now have more time to enter a tuition giveaway. The deadline extension is because of COVID-19.
Through the giveaway, the Diocese of Grand Rapids will grant one year of free tuition to one kindergartner, one 6th grader, and one 9th grader in fall 2020. Winners will be selected in a random drawing. The giveaway is limited to no more than one winner per school and no more than one winner per family. Eligible families will be automatically entered in the drawing if they complete their 2020-21 Catholic school enrollment and apply for the new Faith & Future Scholarship by May 22, 2020.
Apply for the Faith & Future Scholarship
The May 22 deadline only applies to entering the tuition giveaway. The Faith & Future Scholarship application will remain available past that date.
The Office of Catholic Schools first announced the tuition giveaway and the Faith & Future Scholarship in January during Catholic Schools Week. Beginning fall 2020, every kindergartner, 6th grader, and 9th grader will be eligible for the Faith & Future Scholarship, worth $100 toward tuition. There is also a bonus of $50 if the student completed 5th or 8th grade at one of the diocese’s Catholic schools, for a total possible scholarship value of up to $150.
To receive the Faith & Future Scholarship, parents of future kindergartners, 6th graders, and 9th graders must complete the scholarship application (available in Spanish here), which also requires subscribing to the CatholicSchools4U.org blog and to the weekly newsletter from digital safety experts Protect Young Eyes, a community partner of Catholic schools in the diocese.
Other scholarships at the diocesan, parish, and school levels also support families’ investment in Catholic education, including need-based scholarships. Learn more here.

Catholic schools in the Diocese of Grand Rapids are an alliance of 31 vibrant learning communities (26 elementary and five high schools) serving more than 6,340 preschool through 12th grade students throughout West Michigan. Our schools inspire young people to grow in Catholic faith and grace, achieve more in school and life, develop creativity and character, and feel welcomed and cherished for their unique gifts. We partner with parents to awaken the whole child to a world of light and life — that grows better and brighter when children reach their potential.
