Ludington Spelling Bee participant

Ludington Area Catholic School 8th grader Lindy Murphy competed in the 90th annual Scripps National Spelling Bee, May 28-June 4. The competition brought 291 spellers to Washington DC, a group narrowed down from 11 million students who participated in affiliated spelling bees around the country and internationally.

Lindy advanced to the national competition by correctly spelling, “filibuster,” at her qualifying local spelling bee. She made it to the second round of the national competition.

Lindy uses her spelling expertise in one of her favorite activities: writing. Her favorite school subject is math, according to her profile on the Scripps National Spelling Bee website.

We’re proud of you, Lindy! Great job!
