Two local Catholic schools in contest to win new playground; your votes can help!

oral care recycling

Students at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic School in Belmont and at Holy Trinity Catholic School in Comstock Park are in a contest to win a new playground – and your votes can help!

The contest is organized by the companies Terracycle, Meijer and Colgate. Students earn points from your online votes, as well as by bringing used oral care items to school for recycling. Those items are empty toothpaste packaging (including tubes and boxes), toothbrushes and floss containers. The school with the most points will win a playground valued at approximately $55,000. It will be made from recycled oral care products.

More than 50 schools in the Midwest have entered the contest. Assumption and Holy Trinity are the only participating Catholic schools from our diocese.

Anyone can vote in the contest once per day at https://www.terracycle.com/en-US/contests/colgatemeijerplayground2019 through June 30.

Catholic schools in the Diocese of Grand Rapids are an alliance of 31 vibrant learning communities (26 elementary and five high schools) serving more than 6,550 preschool through 12th grade students throughout West Michigan. Our schools inspire young people to grow in Catholic faith and grace, achieve more in school and life, develop creativity and character, and feel welcomed and cherished for their unique gifts. We partner with parents to awaken the whole child to a world of light and life — that grows better and brighter when children reach their potential.
