West Catholic dedicates Henry J. & Cheryl L. Makarewicz Academic Learning Center

West Catholic dedicates Academic Learning Center

A newly-dedicated, state-of-the-art facility at West Catholic High School offers students a flexible learning space.

School leaders, supporters and students dedicated the Henry J. and Cheryl L. Makarewicz Academic Learning Center on Monday, October 23. The facility provides space for teachers to engage students outside of the traditional classroom, hosting casual or formal gatherings, and serving as a location for students to study individually or in groups, receive tutoring, and socialize before and after school.

Principal Cynthia Kneibel, Governance Board Chair Emeritus Dave Veneklase, and Mr. & Mrs. Makarewicz offered brief remarks. Most Reverend David J. Walkowiak, Bishop of Grand Rapids, blessed the facility. Then, Mr. & Mrs. Makarewicz cut the ribbon. See photos from the dedication in the gallery at this link.

The Academic Learning Center is the second addition to be dedicated on the West Catholic campus this fall. In August, the West Catholic community opened the new Alumni Plaza at Falcon Stadium, featuring new concessions and restrooms. Read more about the Alumni Plaza at this link.
