Ahead of the 2017 football season opener, the West Catholic High School community celebrated the grand opening of the new Alumni Plaza at Falcon Stadium.

The Alumni Plaza brings new concessions and restrooms to the West Catholic campus in Grand Rapids.

Ahead of the ribbon cutting on Friday, August 25, the community also greeted the defending Division 5 state champion Falcons. They hosted the defending Division 6 state champions, Jackson Lumen Christi, later that evening. The Falcons fell to Lumen Christi, 27-24.

In addition to cutting the ribbon on the Alumni Plaza, a contest was held to name Falcon Stadium’s signature burger. The winning name, the WC Classic, was revealed at the grand opening.

Another celebration is planned later this fall, when the new Henry J. and Cheryl L. Makarewicz Academic Learning Center is scheduled to open, providing an innovative space for collaborative work and individual study.
